Panther Jazz

Panther Jazz is a flexible ensemble ranging from two to nine players. Specific choices may include trumpet, saxophone, trombone, piano, bass, drums, and guitar. Flute and vocals are also available. Instrumentation can be adjusted to your artistic taste and budget. We can now provide high quality music for a limited space and budget with Ken Hicks on trumpet/vocal and Chuck on trombone. We have excellent recorded rhythm section backgrounds covering all styles. Our most recent appearances have included The Tanglefoot Ballroom Dance, The Ginger Man in Southlake and Fort Worth, Sugar Ridge Winery in Sanger, Metro Ballroom Dance, Broadway Plaza City View, and Delaney Vineyards in Grapevine.

Panther Jazz performs music in swing, Latin, rock, ballad, and Dixieland styles. Our music includes compositions by Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Glen Miller, George Gershwin, Count Basie, Antonio Jobim, and many others. We are available for educational concerts and can also provide music for Jazz Vespers services.

The main goal of this ensemble is to promote live jazz in the North Texas area. We play music in all styles for any occasion. The name of the band has been changed to Panther Band for ballroom and Senior Center dances. We have an excellent offering of music that is appropriate for ballroom dancing. We are continuing to expand these appearances as well. For details about hiring the group, please contact Chuck Compher at cacbone@aol.com. We prefer to use the full ensemble, but it is possible to limit (or supplement) the instrumentation as necessary. Chuck Compher is also the leader of the Jazz Monsters 20 Piece Big Band.
